Epstein was an FBI informant
Summary
Belief that Jeffrey Epstein received protection or preferential treatment from the FBI in exchange for information. This belief is based on FOIA documents from the FBI Vault (2018) which indicate that Epstein 'provided information to the FBI as agreed,' on the systematic presence of the 'INFORMANT/CW' checkbox in the statistical forms of file 31E-MM-108062, and on the existence of file 802R (Potential Confidential Human Source) related to the case. Epstein's precise status -- formal informant, informal cooperating witness, or simple quid pro quo within the 2008 NPA -- remains undetermined.
Detailed description
The question of Epstein's informant status with the FBI is one of the most sensitive aspects of the case. Several documentary elements support it:
EFTA00162952 (May 31, 2018): An FBI HQ agent (Violent Crimes Against Children Unit, Mike, tel. 410-981-8726) requests information from a colleague regarding file 31E-MM-108062 after the FBI Vault published documents where agents from the FBI Miami write that 'Epstein has also provided information to the FBI as agreed upon.' The HQ agent specifies that he is 'getting hit with media calls' on this subject, citing a Palm Beach Post article titled 'Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein Provided FBI Information To Get Plea Deal.' The field agent's name is SSA Goodhue.
EFTA01072646 (statistical forms, September 30, 2008): At least 4 case accomplishment forms for file 31E-MM-108062 check the box 'INFORMANT/CW' (Informant/Cooperating Witness) as an investigative technique used. This confirms the use of informant sources in the context of the investigation, but does not specify whether Epstein himself was the informant or if it concerns third parties informing about Epstein.
EFTA01072646 pages 109-111 (November 24, 2010): FBI Jacksonville document (Case 802R-JK-52669, closed) titled 'POTENTIAL CONFIDENTIAL HUMAN SOURCE; HUMAN TRAFFICKING; CI; JACKSONVILLE DIVISION; JEFFREY EPSTEIN; WSTA-CHILD PROSTITUTION.' Jacksonville transfers 11 serials to Miami and estimates that 'this source could be extremely valuable to Miami's case if needed.' This document concerns a third party informant about Epstein, not Epstein as an informant.
The 2008 Non-Prosecution Agreement (NPA): The deal negotiated by Alexander Acosta and Jay Lefkowitz with Epstein's lawyers (including Alan Dershowitz, Kenneth Starr, Martin Weinberg) included terms that, according to the November 2020 DOJ OPR report, were exceptionally favorable. The DOJ OPR briefed the victims on November 12, 2020, in Miami before the report's publication.
EFTA00129379 pages 104/106: FBI payment forms (FD-794) with ‘Informant/CW’ and ‘Informant/CW Providing Drug Info’ boxes checked within the context of the case file.
The crucial distinction is between: (a) Epstein was formally registered as a CHS/informant of the FBI, and (b) Epstein provided information informally within the context of the NPA. Option (b) is the most probable and the most documented. Option (a) remains an unconfirmed hypothesis.
Belief pillars

Revelation : le FBI Vault libere des documents montrant 'Epstein has also provided information to the FBI as agreed upon'. Julie K. Brown publie 'Perversion of Justice'.
