Summary

Unit 8200, the electronic intelligence unit of the Israel Defense Forces (equivalent to the NSA), serves as a pipeline to the private cybersecurity sector. 80% of the founders of the 700 Israeli cybersecurity companies come from military intelligence. 1,400 identified veterans work within American big tech companies (Microsoft, Google, Meta, etc.). The combined market capitalization of publicly traded companies founded by alumni exceeds $160 billion. NSO Group (Pegasus) is the most controversial example of this pipeline.
