THE MEGA GROUP: ORIGINS AND COMPOSITION

The Mega Group (sometimes written 'the Mega Group' or 'Mega') was founded in 1991 by Charles Bronfman (heir to the Seagram fortune, brother of Edgar Bronfman Sr.) and Les Wexner (founder of L Brands/Limited Brands, owner of Victoria's Secret). The group comprises approximately 20 American Jewish billionaires who meet twice a year to coordinate their philanthropic activities in support of the Jewish community and Israel.

The existence of the Mega Group was revealed to the public by an article in the Wall Street Journal published on May 4, 1998, by Lisa Miller and Marc Berman. The article describes a discreet group of mega-donors seeking to revitalize American Jewish life and strengthen ties with Israel.

MEMBERS OF THE MEGA GROUP

Among the identified members of the Mega Group are:

• Charles Bronfman: Co-founder. Heir to Seagram (spirits empire), brother of Edgar Bronfman Sr. (president of the World Jewish Congress). The Bronfman family has origins in alcohol trafficking during the Canadian Prohibition.

• Les Wexner: Co-founder. Founder of The Limited / L Brands (Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, etc.). Principal benefactor and mentor of Jeffrey Epstein. He gave Epstein a general power of attorney over his financial affairs and transferred ownership of the New York mansion (9 East 71st Street) under opaque circumstances.

• Edgar Bronfman Sr.: Brother of Charles, president of the World Jewish Congress (1981-2007). A central figure in international Jewish lobbying.

• Michael Steinhardt: Hedge fund manager, philanthropist. Co-founder of Birthright Israel (program sending young Jews to Israel). Accused of sexual harassment in 2019.

• Laurence Tisch: President of CBS (1986-1995), owner of Loews Corporation.

• Max Fisher: Businessman, informal advisor to several American presidents (Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush).

• Leonard Lauder: President of Estee Lauder Companies.

• Ronald Lauder: Brother of Leonard, president of the World Jewish Congress since 2007, former ambassador to Austria. He financed the Lauder School of Government at IDC Herzliya (an Israeli institution linked to intelligence).

• Lester Crown: Crown family (General Dynamics, real estate). The Crown family is one of the most important pro-Israel political donors in the USA.

• Edgar Miles Bronfman Jr.: Son of Edgar Sr., executive at Warner Music Group.

WEXNER-EPSTEIN LINKS

The links between Les Wexner and Jeffrey Epstein are at the heart of the Mega Group theory and constitute the most documented elements:

1. Wexner was the principal known client of Epstein’s financial management firm, J. Epstein & Co. Epstein managed Wexner’s personal fortune (estimated at several billion dollars) from the late 1980s. [CORRECTION BS-015: Leon Black also paid $158 million in fees to Epstein (2012-2017), and Epstein’s total revenue exceeded $800 million (Senate Finance Committee). The ‘sole client’ assertion was factually incorrect.]

2. Wexner gave Epstein a general power of attorney over his financial affairs, an extraordinarily rare level of trust.

3. Wexner transferred ownership of 9 East 71st Street in Manhattan to Epstein in 1996 for a declared amount of zero dollars. This 40,000-square-foot mansion, valued at over $50 million, became the main site of the alleged Epstein abuses.

4. According to Wexner employees, Epstein allegedly diverted at least $46 million from Wexner’s funds. Wexner stated in 2019 that he only discovered this diversion afterward, a claim contested by some analysts who note Wexner’s reputation for meticulous financial attention.

5. The Wexner Foundation and other Wexner philanthropic entities had contacts with Israeli intelligence and political figures.

THE MEGA GROUP THEORY AS AN INTELLIGENCE NETWORK

The central conspiracy theory is that the Mega Group is not merely a philanthropic network but serves as a mechanism for coordinating and financing Israeli intelligence operations within the United States. According to this theory:

1. Epstein was an intelligence agent (Mossad and/or CIA) whose sexual compromise operations (honey traps) were financed and protected by the Wexner/Mega Group network.

2. The wealth of the Mega Group was used to finance clandestine operations that could not pass through the official channels of the Israeli government.

3. The family and business ties of the Mega Group members (the Bronfmans with historical organized crime, the Crowns with the arms industry via General Dynamics, the Lauders with the World Jewish Congress and Israeli institutions) constitute a coordinated network of influence.

4. Programs like Birthright Israel (co-founded by Michael Steinhardt and Charles Bronfman) would serve not only cultural and religious goals but also as a recruitment channel for Israeli intelligence.

These allegations are highly speculative and have not been proven by direct evidence.

THE ROBERT MAXWELL CONNECTION

The father of Ghislaine Maxwell is a key element of this theory. Robert Maxwell (born Jan Ludvik Hyman Binyamin Hoch in Czechoslovakia in 1923) was a British press magnate whose links with Mossad have been documented by several sources:

• Former Mossad agent Victor Ostrovsky (see THEORY-0201) identifies Maxwell as a 'sayanim' (volunteer auxiliary agent) of Mossad in his books.

• Ari Ben-Menashe, former Israeli military intelligence agent, claims that Maxwell was an active Mossad agent and helped Israel obtain the PROMIS software (American DOJ surveillance software) to modify it with backdoors and sell it to foreign governments.

• Following Maxwell’s death in November 1991 (found dead in the sea near the Canary Islands under suspicious circumstances), six members of Israeli intelligence attended his funeral on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, and Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir declared that he had rendered ‘unforgettable services to Israel.’

The connection between Ghislaine Maxwell (daughter of Robert) and Epstein, and the links of Robert Maxwell to Mossad, are a central element of the theory that the Epstein operation was a continuation or extension of Israeli intelligence operations in which Robert Maxwell was involved.

THE 'MEGA' OF THE NSA LEAK

In 1997, the Washington Post reported that an NSA intercept captured a telephone conversation between the Israeli embassy in Washington and Tel Aviv in which one speaker mentioned a high-level contact within the U.S. government identified by the code name 'Mega.' The FBI launched an investigation to identify 'Mega,' suspecting an Israeli spy within the government. Some analysts have linked this code name 'Mega' to the Mega Group, although this connection is speculative and contested. The FBI investigation did not lead to a public identification.

THE WHITNEY WEBB INVESTIGATION

Investigative journalist Whitney Webb published a two-volume work entitled 'One Nation Under Blackmail' in 2022, which constitutes the most exhaustive study of the connections between Epstein, the Mega Group, intelligence agencies, and organized crime. Webb traces the historical links between American Jewish organized crime (Meyer Lansky and his network), Israeli intelligence agencies, and sexual compromise operations, arguing that the Epstein operation is part of a decades-long tradition of using sexual blackmail as a tool of political power.

Although Webb’s work is remarkably documented, some critics note that she sometimes establishes connections by association (A knows B, B knows C, therefore A is linked to C) that do not constitute proof of clandestine coordination.

THE NXIVM-BRONFMAN CONNECTIONS

An additional element of the theory involves Sara and Clare Bronfman, daughters of Edgar Bronfman Sr. (Mega Group member). The two sisters were deeply involved in NXIVM, the cult-company run by Keith Raniere, convicted in 2019 for sex trafficking, forced labor, and racketeering. Clare Bronfman was sentenced to 81 months in prison in 2020 for her role in NXIVM. The connection between the Bronfman family, NXIVM, and the Mega Group adds another layer to the narrative of elite networks involved in sexual exploitation.

CONCLUSION

The Mega Group is a proven fact, as are the Wexner-Epstein and Maxwell-Mossad links. The interpretation of these connections as evidence of a coordinated network of intelligence operations financed by Zionist billionaires remains an unproven theory, although circumstantial evidence is numerous and troubling. The distinction between legitimate pro-Israel philanthropy (legal and transparent activity), aggressive political lobbying (grey ethical but legal area), and clandestine intelligence operations (illegal) is crucial but difficult to establish in an environment where secrecy is systematically maintained.
